John Softley Death, Alliston, ON Obituary: Beloved Resident Passed Away

Update: Louise Barrett, Missing In Boston MA

The community of Alliston, Ontario is mourning the death of John Softley, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on Easter Sunday after living with long-term health issues.

A lifelong connection to Alliston shaped John’s story. Educated at Woodbridge High School and Seneca Polytechnic, he later worked with CSA Group before retiring. His life reflected consistency and quiet contribution—built not on recognition, but on relationships and shared experiences within his community.

What defines John most clearly is how he was remembered. Friends speak of his “kind soul,” his good nature, and a sense of humor that made time spent with him meaningful. One friend recalled their last message on April 3rd and the plans they had to reunite—plans now replaced with memories. Another tribute simply captured it: “We lost a good friend.”

His funeral will be held at Egan Funeral Home in Bolton on April 28. As those who knew him gather to say goodbye, John Softley is remembered not in grand statements, but in conversations, laughter, and the lasting impression of genuine friendship.
